Tap Water vs. Bottled Water

It's doubtful whether or not anyone today except possibly a senior citizen can remember a time when drinking water was something that you never had to give a second thought. You knew it was clean, knew it was pure, and there was no need for any sort of testing. The mountain springs were pure and untouched, and if by chance you happened upon one of them on a camping trip, you could scoop some of that sparkling water up in your hands and drink to your heart's content without any fear of that water making you sick. Just try doing that today!

For many, many people, if it isn't bottled water, it won't pass through their lips. This happened fairly quickly if you stop and think about it. When we first started to noticed bottled water in movies and television programs, we laughed. Who in the world would pay money for something that everyone has in their homes for free? We'd read snippets in the tabloid newspapers about famous personalities who would only give their pets bottled water to drink, and shake our heads in disbelief. During this time, there were three, maybe four brands of bottled water tops. The selection was nowhere near as wide and varied as it is today.

The EPA Tap Water Cover-up

Municipal (Tap) water suppliers are quick to point out that they are regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and, because of that regulation, tap water is safe to drink.

Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The EPA merely sets arbitrary standards for contaminants in tap water and then tests against those minimum levels of contaminants.

But there is no scientific proof that the EPA standards are safe for your body. No one has assessed the medium and long term damage for lead, copper, arsenic, pesticides,MTBE, rocket fuel and other poisons permitted in tap water by EPA standards. And, the EPA has not even established testing standards for pharmaceuticals that are freely dumped into our water supply.

No wonder tap water smells and tastes terrible.

Go to the EPA home page and see for yourself. It makes interesting reading if you investigate it thoroughly.

As an alternative to contaminated tap water try purified water.

Is Water Important for Health?

Pure water is health - it's as critical as that. Without water you will die and without pure water you will die from a number of ailments.

Nothing kills life quicker than the lack of water. Those with the worst health conditions drink less water than healthier people. Asthma is a condition resulting from lack of water. Cancer and heart disease can be traced to a lack of pure water. Water is not only harmful from municipal water sources but also can be harmful if it passes through corrosive water pipes. City dwellers need to investigate sources of purified water in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Check your city’s water source. You could be drinking chlorinated sewer water that contains lead, copper or other harmful elements it picks up from residential water pipes!

Think of your family in addition to yourself. Children are particularly sensitive to contaminated water as are the elderly.

Drink purified water for your health!

A Healthy Diet and Purified Water

Obessity is a problem for Americans of all ages and following a proper diet is one part (along with regular exercise) of losing weight.

But there are two important points to remember about losing weight.

Moderation and balance are the keys. Moderation means slow continuous weight reduction as part of an overall lifestyle plan. Rapid weight loss is dangerous and often results in greater weight gain.

In addition eliminating one sector of your daily nutrition requirements (like fat or carbohydrates) accomplishes little in the long run. Always consume sufficient amounts of fruits and vegetables.

Lastly do not forget water. Water hydrates and lubricates the body and eases the stress of calorie reduction.

But not just any water. Tap water is polluted and most bottled water is not much better.

It is best to drink purified water that uses a steam distillation process. Only pure water will enter your body and it will help you lose weight and keep it off.

Does Your Body Get Minerals From Water?

Many proponents of tap and spring water point out that the minerals contained in their water are necessary for health because the minerals (like calcium) are necessary and are absorbed by the body.

Nothing could be farther from the truth! As Dr. Andrew Weil points out, minerals are non soluble and are absorbed from the food we eat, not the water we drink. Dr. Weil further explains that the best water to drink is purified water using a steam distillation process.

Tap water, no matter what the proponents claim, is loaded with harmful contaminants like chlorine, fluoride, lead, arsenic and pharmaceuticals. It smells bad, tastes bad and poses a threat to your health.

Tap Water - The Fraud Continues

A recent study found that there is arsenic in the Washington, D.C. water supply that directly threatens those suffering from heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Why do citizens and tax payers allow municipal water suppliers the ability to poison us at the same time they charge us for water?

This is politics at its worst and the politicians continue to lie to us about the safety of our environment.

Those families with small children, the elderly or those with illness or compromised immune systems should only consume purified water.

How Can This Happen?

We are constantly sold on how safe municipal tap water supplies are but the truth is that many municipal suppliers are using outdated or faulty designs to purify our drinking water.

Take the case of Fairmont West Virginia

In February and March of 2007, the membranes in the treatment plant servicing Fairmont were getting clogged with residue from its Tygart River source and slowing water production to a point too low to completely meet the high demand of all of its customers. This left some customers with little to no pressure and led to boil-water advisories for several days at a time.

It seems when the plant was designed no provision was made for a filter that would eliminate river solids from the system and as a result, the system membranes became clogged resulting in a shut down of the system and contamination of the drinking water.

It cost $8.7 million to fix the system and the cost was passed on to the subscribers (as usual)

Bottled Water Local Delivery and Fuel Prices

The price of fuel is rising dramatically in the United States and the increases are expected to continue for the forseeable future. Many trucking companies and home delivery services have enacted a fuel surcharge in an attempt to pass on to the consumer higher fuel prices.

Many companies that deliver heavy goods like bottled water have already instituted fuel surcharges that are substantial.

You can get purified water delivery to your door and if you chose
a vendor wisely, you will not be affected by a fuel surcharge. Chose a vendor that produces a quality water product that is close to you home or office and often they will not charge a fuel surcharge if they already have a route in your neighborhood.

For example, in Northern Virginia where there is heavy density there is a purified water supplier that waives the fuel surcharge if the delivery is within 10 miles of their water processing plant.

So when considering a water supplier, make sure they provide 100% pure water and then look at the map. You can get a good delivered price if you are close to the source. .

Pharmaceuticals Anyone?

The Associated Press recently ran a multi part study that found pharmaceuticals in the drinking water of major cities and many cities that did not even test for pharmaceuticals.

And proponents of tap water say it is better than purified water?

Hardly!!

Toilet to Tap Water - A Clever Diversion?

Anyone who reads the EPA reports on municipal tap water and reads beyond the hype knows that tap water contains many contaminants that are harmful to the human body. In addition tap water smells and tastes like swimming pool water because of the addition of heavy chlorine to kill bacteria.

But municipal water managers, who are essentially politicians attempting to save their jobs and maintain their share of municipal budgets, have now dreamed up a new scheme to cover the inefficiencies in the water processes.

The new scheme , introduced in Clearwater Florida, would allow the water company to dump wastewater directly into the aquifer in an attempt to use the aquifer as a purification method.

Many citizens have complained that this "Toilet to Tap Water" scheme will not improve the purity of the tap water but will result in contamination of the aquifer.

Nice try.

See details and full story here.

Did You Know?

  • The typical tap water supplier only monitors for about 60 of the 6,000 water soluble chemicals that could be harmful to humans.
  • Without an efficient communication system of land lines and cell phones, most water treatment systems would not function effectively.
  • Without electricity, modern water systems cannot operate effectively.
  • Corrosion of pipes can cause an increase in the concentration of toxic trace metals in water that passes through them.
  • At least 300 different organic chemicals have been identified in American drinking water yet most of these have not been tested for being carcinogens.

Tap Water is a Fraud

Municipal tap water is a fraud. Read the EPA reports and after the hype look at what chemicals are in the water you drink. Also note the caveats and warnings to children , the elderly and those with challenged immune systems. Also the general warning about the deadly cryptosporidium and now pharmaceuticals.

Now rocket fuel and gasoline additives are seeping into municipal water.

Municipal water treatment technology was developed in the early 1900's and does not address modern industrial pollution. The chlorine used to kill deadly bacteria is a poison itself and smells and tastes terrible. Read the EPA reports closely and you be the judge.

Bottled water that uses tap water with the chlorine filtered out is also a fraud on the consumer as is most spring water that is subject to ground water pollution like tap water.

Purified water is the only water to drink because it is required by the FDA to be 100% pure and it tastes good.

Four Facts About Bad Water

Polluted water has killed more people than most any other health threat.

Some Facts to Note:

  • More than 20,000 people die each day around the world from disease caused by polluted water or no water at all.
  • The absence of clean drinking water and sanitation is one of the biggest causes of death and loss of human productivity throughout the world.
  • Three to four of every five children in the world die because of polluted water diseases such as dysentery, cholera and malaria.
  • Purified water is 99.9% pure and could save many lives if distributed properly.
I have had malaria and it is no joke. You never really recover from it and polluted water is the cause.

Tap Water is Poison

Notwithstanding the slick brochures of municipal tap water agencies, a casual review will show you how unhealthy tap water really is.

The EPA regulates tap water sanitation plants and sets "allowable levels" of poison in the water. Long term exposure to these poisons and harmful elements can be deadly.

Plus, now pharmaceutical waste has been found in tap water and the water companies knew about this all along.

As a last reminder, the EPA only tests water at the source and ignores dangerous metals like lead and copper that are found in many home water pipes.

The municipalities also cover up large amounts of bacteria with chlorine that smells bad and makes the water taste like a well used public swimming pool.

Lots of luck if you drink tap water.
